Walking Together

Hello All, I am Sujoy. I am a father, a technologist by profession.

This blog exists because of my daughter, Aisha. She walks beside me, quite literally. Through her I have been forced to observe closely, cultivate patience, unlearn assumptions and re-learn what developmental communication and connection actually mean.

A little bit about Aisha - Aisha was diagnosed with Autism at the age of 2.5. She is now 8 and goes to a special ED school and has OT and Speech therapy going on. Apart from her daily therapy’s and schooling she loves to draw, dance and read.

Now by training, I work in software technology. By circumstance, I found myself navigating the world of special education, therapy frameworks, developmental sciences and parent-mediated learning - None of which I had planned for and none of which I was prepared for 😊.

What you will find here is NOT expert advice, structured therapy, diagnosis related data or polished answers.

Instead, what you will find are honest observations -

1. What I have tried or trying at the moment.

2. What did not work

3. What worked unexpectedly

4. How everyday routines are becoming learning moments

5. And how small shifts are creating meaningful change overtime.

Much of this writing is a record of working with Aisha in real life, outside therapy rooms\tables. You will see that these are part field notes, part reflections, part data about her development through the milestone as she progresses through the different developmental domains and that is intentional (No polish - remember?)

This blog will be for caregivers, most importantly parents\primary caregivers and anyone who is curious about what happens when learning is embedded into daily life and routines in parallel with structured therapy sessions.

Everything here is based on personal experience. I am still learning. Aisha is still learning. And this is very much a work in progress.

If something here helps even one family feel less alone or more hopeful, then this space has already served its purpose.

This is Aisha's story. I am just documenting the light she creates.

JAI AISHA!

Then vs Now

In the last post, I showed how things evolved over time and the way all the domains have started to work in tandem. In this one I will put t...
